namesake

Aunt Siri with baby Siri.
Aunt Siri and Uncle Jerry came to visit two weekends ago and it was nice to see them.
This is how Siri got her namesake.
My Grandma Laura had a good friend who was named Siri, she was Swedish.
Which my Grandma just loved, and named her only girl Siri (my dads sister).
Josh and I, when time came to name our baby girl we slept on it over night.
We had several names that we liked but just didnt feel right for our girl.
Early the next morning both of us felt that her name should be Siri and thus how she got her name.
We really like the fact that Siri is not a common name.
I have never met another Siri and Josh had never met one until he came into the family.
We also wanted a name that had meaning and had family history.
Siri
(pronounced sear-E not Sur-e)
means "Good fortune,"
and
I believe its origin, from the spelling, is form Thailand, well thats what my Aunt Siri told me anyway.
To sum this up our Siri was named Siri because
1. we love that my Grandma loved the name Siri,  I love my Grandma (may she Rest In Peace)
2. Its Unique
and
3. It's in our family history, which is kind of a trend in the naming of our children.

Hey Josh, when are you going to wear the pants and name one of your kids after a member of the Burgess family. Having Burgess as the last name doesn't count. Also, I will accept Cletus & Sefus.

Ash, I love love her name! I have never met a Siri either. Unique family names are the best!
