The day I turned 30 went a little like this:
Get a return phone call from my dad a little before midnight (02/10/2011) to discuss the sadness I felt about Jerry Sloan leaving the Jazz in the manor that he did. I just felt that Jerry should have gone out with a bang, fireworks and all. Possibly a statute to add to Malone's and Stockton's yin and yang, because lets face it, would there have been such an awesome dynamic duo without the Sloan? I think not. Jerry has done a lot for the Jazz and I think he needs to be recognized for that. Not resigning midway through the season for silly reasons.
My dad then reminds me that I am turning 30 years young.
Which I concur. Such an inspiring man my dad is thanks Dad.
Just before bed Josh tells me he left his phone in the car and needs to go get it. Comes back with purple Calla Lilies which are quite beautiful and make me smile when I look at them.
Snuggle up in bed with my hot hubby around midnight, which is ALWAYS the best part of my day.
At exactly midnight get a text from my dear friend Debbie, who has texted me at midnight on my birthday since we were the best of roomies in college so many years ago.
I miss that Debbie.
2:00 AM yes that is 2:00 AM I get a phone call. I see its my brother Tanner. Of course I answer, I am the closest living kin and if he needs help of course I would do anything for him. To my surprise its him and bunch of other young college kids serenading me on my sweet day. You think I would be a little upset since sleep is such a prized possession when you have little ones. I wasn't, I took it as heart felt and I knew he meant well.
I also learned that maybe I need to be a little more spontaneous like a twenty something college student and live in the moment. Just because I'm 30 doesn't mean I am no fun or old!
4:00 AM Josh gets up to get Siri, she is crying, and only to realize that it is FREEZING, I mean FREEZING in our house. He goes to check the heat and yep its a toasty 50 degrees in the house and the heater is not working. He then checks on Mr. Chamberlain to make sure he has plenty of blankets and is staying warm. Such a good dad that man is.
Fast forward to 9:45 AM
Yes that is the actual temperature in the house.
So much for going out for breakfast, which happens to be one of my favorite things to do, especially on my birthday and forget about the option of having breakfast in bed.
Josh and I spent the morning trying to keep the kids warm and getting a hold of our landlord so we could fix the problem.
We finally got the heat working around 11 or so.
Josh missed his first class of the day, he usually has Fridays off but had to go into work to meet with the CEO, then back to class till 7.
Made a trip to Costco for some party things.
Got the kids ready for bed but not before we played a little
"Just Dance" on the Wii, which is what Chamberlain got me.
Such a fun game I could play it for hours and we do.
10:00 PM my mom calls to wish my a happy birthday. She had been decorating all day for the stake Valentines "So You Think You Can Dance," and finally had a moment to call.
We talk and reminisce of the day it was just her and I in the hospital, of course my dad was there too but really it was just her and I she was the one who gave me life which I am eternally grateful for. It is her that I seek inspiration and knowledge from. Yes, my dad is there too and I do love him but there is just something special about a girl and her mama.
12:00 AM in bed snuggled up with that hot hubby of mine and ready for Saturday and that is another post all in itself.
Lets just say Josh put a little party together and it was thirtylicious fun.
