The Colorado

On our drive home we stopped along the Colorado River.  I have never been this close to the actual river. Its beautiful. I can only imagine what the pioneers were thinking when they had to cross at Lee's Ferry pulling their wagons and children and pretty much everything else they owned.
You can still see the trail on the sides of the cliffs where they walked and walked and walked.
I love going on road trips with my dad he seems to know the names of each mountain range, and formations of the earth and he can also point out arches or significant information about the area we are in.
Lee's Ferry was no exception. He spent lots of time camping there as a scout in his youth and showed us where they camped, hiked, and played.  When I was younger I never payed much attention to what he was pointing out and ignored it. Now I regret it and wish I could remember everything he has told/taught me over they years.   What a treat it was to spend our Sunday driving together and stopping when we felt like.

Such a beautiful place and I am glad that we took the 6 mile detour to see it.
I'm excited to be moving closer to this area so we can explore more with the kids on the weekends and maybe take them camping...finally.
