Eclipse 2012

Oh yes like everybody else across America we watched the Eclipse of 2012.
Grandpa Lex had a great idea to drive out to LaFevre Point (where you can see an amazing view of the Grand Stair Case) on the way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to watch. We all loaded up in the car and headed out after some tasty Tacos that my mom made for dinner. Tacos are something that I have been craving and could eat every meal every day right now.
I forget how beautiful the Kaibab is. The mountain is in bloom and smell's so sweet it brought back so many memories of field trips and girls camp.   We gave ourselves plenty of time arriving around 5:30 till the actual eclipse around 7:30. The kids had fun exploring looking for dinosaur tracks and the rare Kaibab squirrel. We ended up watching with a handful or more of telescope hobby people who had their filters and special equipment that made our 2$ glasses look so silly. They were kind and let us take peeks through the entire event! I was nervous the other people there were all in their 60's and older with equipment I'm sure worth thousands and here were my two little kids running and exploring and had no care in the world for telescope legs or the proper positioning. But they behaved and loved looking through the telescopes and made quiet great friends with the elderly retired travelers.
And as always with my parents at the end we had treats! Not just any treats we drove the extra 9 miles to Jacobs Lake and enjoyed their freshly baked cookies. My pregnant belly was a little disappointed that my favorite cookie Lemon Zucchini was sold out for the day. But then again it probably was best that my taste buds did not partake, so I would not be craving those cookies today. Since I most likely will not drive the nearly two hours to get there from Hurricane. I know I post way to many pictures but I can't help it I love pictures.

I love all those big chunks of Turquoise that they got right off the mountain to build the walls. I will have a wall like this in my home someday.
I'm pretty sure she agrees the cookies are good.
